RAGUSA’S “PIETRA PECE” FOR THE NEW IBLA CERAMIC SERIES

Sicilian inspiration for the new line of IBLA porcelain stoneware tiles by Ceramiche Piemme. The veining and colours recreated on the surfaces of the tiles (60×60 cm) and slabs (60×120 cm and the innovative 30×120 cm) recall those of the “Ragusa’s Pietra Pece”, an asphalt rock distinctive to the artistic and cultural process of the ancient part of Ragusa area for centuries (hence the name of the collection). A fascinating stone used in the city’s cathedral but also in the paving of some European streets.
Colourful suggestions that can also be discovered online on a virtual tour at “Villa Ibla“: an elegant Mediterranean home to be explored digitally by “navigating” through the rooms covered in the different sizes and decorations of the new collection.

There are four IBLA colour variants (black, white, grey and beige) developed by Piemme designers onceramicsusing”SynchroDigit”technology. Ruffles,reliefsandallpossiblethree-dimensionaland tactile effects on the tile surface are digitally reproduced in perfect synchronisation with the digital decoration. A production process that, together with the 300 dpi printing and the special lapping technique, enhances the great textural depth of the new Ibla ceramic surfaces. Aged effect and three-dimensional relief decorations of clear Sicilian inspiration are featured, such as the traditional lace evoked by the “Tombolo” or the fine “Zagara” flower decoration.

In addition to the more conventional sizes, the new long plank (30×119.5 cm) allows for fascinating colours in a variety of installation solutions for both floor and wall coverings. The small plank 10×60 cm and the chevron 10×53 cm size can be installed in the Italian or French herringbone pattern, respectively.
